The U.S. National Sake Appraisal was established in 2001 and has the longest history in evaluating sake outside of Japan. Using traditional Japanese judging methods, nearly 500 sake entries are evaluated every year. Gold and Silver Awards are presented to those receiving high marks, with the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Second Place, and Grand Prix Third Place awarded to even higher-scoring entries from each category.
