Atago no Matsu

In 1925 the second generation brewery president was honored with the opportunity to speak on "Osaki Kodo" in front of the Prince Regent (the future Emperor Showa). In recognition of this honor, he renamed the brewery's flagship brand "Atagonomatsu" after the pine trees that grow on Mt. Atago.
It is said that Bansui Doi, the famed poet of "The Moon over the Deserted Castle", loved the sake so much that he a wrote an ode to the sake.
